That's how many Stanley Cups?!
When food gets thrown out, that's not all that goes to waste...

Stanley Cups would carry all the water needed to produce the food we’ve thrown out in Commons since the beginning of February!
Hey, it’s us again!
That’s a lot of Stanley Cups, huh?!
We hope you’re all getting back into the swing of things after break. These next few months will absolutely fly by (trust us!), so enjoy them while they’re here.
You’ve probably started to notice Albi content popping up around campus over the last few days. In this email, we wanted to dive deeper with some data on how much waste we’ve produced in Commons so far this semester.
So we’ve wasted a lot of food, sure. But 3,500 lbs of something is kind of hard to visualize, so we did some math…
If we converted all that food into Quarter Pounders, we’d have wasted an incredible 14,180 burgers!
With an average diameter of 4 inches, this many burgers would stretch from Commons all the way down to the Yellow Deli! That’s almost an entire mile of burgers wasted in just the last 7 weeks!

If each of us waste 2 oz less food each day (that’s less than a quarter of an apple) between now and the end of the semester, we’ll save an incredible 7,400 lbs by graduation – that’s almost 7 swimming pools’ worth of water!
Don’t forget to check out the website Albi - Eat Smart to see more results and keep track of how much we’re reducing our waste by!
So until next time, keep working hard and having fun. As always – eat smart.
Best,
Matt & Harry
